Initial Impressions
When I first got my hands on the Roborock QV 35S, I was curious to see how it would handle my daily cleaning needs. This robot vacuum promises a lot with its smart navigation and high suction power, but I wanted to see if it could really deliver.
Setting it up was pretty straightforward. The app made it easy to connect to my Wi-Fi and get started with customizing the cleaning schedule. I appreciated the clear instructions, which made the initial process smooth and hassle-free.
Over the first few days, I tested it on various surfaces such as hardwood floors, carpets, and tiles. I was particularly interested in how it would manage transitions between these different types of flooring. The results were quite interesting, as I'll explain further in the performance section.
Overall, the first impressions were decent. While it didn't blow me away initially, it seemed like a solid piece of equipment that could potentially become a useful addition to my home cleaning routine.
Value for Money
When it comes to value, the Roborock QV 35S is pretty solid for what it offers. You're getting a range of features that are usually found in higher-end models, like auto mop washing and drying and smart navigation. In terms of price, it sits in the mid-to-high range, which might be a stretch for some budgets, but seems justified given its capabilities.
The hands-free cleaning via the all-in-one dock is a big selling point. It effectively reduces maintenance time, which is great for those who prefer a 'set it and forget it' approach. Plus, the feature that allows it to mop up to 3552 sqft on a single tank fill is a plus for larger homes.
Compared to other models I've tested, like the iRobot Roomba series, the Roborock offers similar features but at a competitive price point. The dual anti-tangle brushes and 10,000Pa suction power give it an edge in terms of cleaning performance, especially if you have pets that shed a lot.
Ultimately, if youβre looking for a robot vacuum that offers a good balance between price and performance, the Roborock QV 35S is worth considering. Just keep in mind the price might not be suitable for everyone, but it delivers decent value for those willing to invest.
Design and Usability
The design of the Roborock QV 35S is quite functional, with a minimalist white finish that blends well with most home interiors. Itβs not going to win any style awards, but itβs not an eyesore either. The build quality feels solid, and the weight is manageable, making it easy to move between floors when needed.
The main highlight in terms of design is the dual anti-tangle brushes. These worked well in my home, especially given that I have a pet that sheds a lot. I didn't have to deal with much hair tangling, which was a relief compared to my previous vacuum.
Another practical feature is the all-in-one dock. This dock takes care of most maintenance tasks like auto-emptying the dustbin and auto-refilling the mop tank. It's a real time-saver and keeps me from having to frequently check on the vacuum.
However, the vacuum is a bit on the larger side, which means it doesn't fit under all my furniture. This could be an issue if you have a lot of low-clearance furniture in your home. Overall, while the design is practical, itβs not the most compact option out there.
Performance Assessment
After using the Roborock QV 35S for a couple of weeks, it's clear that its 10,000Pa suction power is no joke. It managed to pick up a good amount of dirt and debris from my carpets and hard floors. However, I noticed that it struggled a bit with larger debris and required a bit more manual intervention in those cases.
The smart obstacle avoidance feature worked most of the time. It successfully navigated around most obstacles in my cluttered living room, though it occasionally got stuck under low furniture. The app's 'No-Go Zones' feature helps, but I had to manually adjust these zones after realizing the vacuum's constraints.
One of the stronger points is its ability to handle multi-level homes. It can store up to four floor maps, which is handy if you live in a multi-story house. I did see it automatically switch between maps when moved to different floors, which was a nice touch.
On the downside, the battery life didn't quite hit the 3-hour mark for me. It averaged around 2.5 hours, which is still reasonable, but not as advertised. It's not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind if you've got a large area to clean.
Pros
- High suction power
- Effective anti-tangle brushes
- Convenient all-in-one dock
Cons
- Large size might not fit under all furniture
- Battery life slightly less than advertised
Conclusion
Editor's rating
After a few weeks of using the Roborock QV 35S, I found it to be a reliable robot vacuum with a good mix of features for the price. It's particularly well-suited for homes with pets, thanks to its anti-tangle brushes and high suction power. The smart navigation and mapping are handy for those with multi-level homes, offering convenience and adaptability.
If you're someone who values hands-free cleaning, the all-in-one dock that takes care of auto-emptying and mop maintenance can be a significant advantage. However, if you have a lot of low-clearance furniture or require longer battery life, you might want to look elsewhere.
Overall, the Roborock QV 35S is a solid choice for those who want a middle-ground option between budget and high-end models. It offers decent performance and a range of features that make it a practical addition to most households.
